Always on the look out for great wines we joyously happened upon this beautiful Rémole Toscana Indicazione Geografica Tipica 2014 from Frescobaldi Vineyards located in the heart of Tuscany where the richness of the region transcends the palate in ways only great wines can achieve.
Before delving into tasting notes, let’s explore the 700 years of history of this vineyard. The Frescobalsdi family started over a millennia ago and their heritage is woven into the fabric of the region. In medieval Florence, the family held influential positions as bankers earning the title of treasures to the English crown.
They later became patrons of major public works in Florence like the construction of the Santa Trinita bridge and Basilica of Santo Spirito. Needless to say this family has been immensely influential and they have no doubt expanded their knowledge and skill into their wonderful wines over the centuries.
Now, on to the vintage… the grapes at harvest time for the Rémole Toscana IGT 2014 were healthy, ripe and strong with color.
The two crucial periods were an optimal initial fruit set stage and a long autumnal phase of sunny, hot days and cool nights which enriched the grapes with aromas and perfumes
The colour is a brilliant red-purple with an intense entry on the nose with notes of cherry, raspberry and scents of black pepper. It’s fresh and light to taste without compromising flavour. Pairs beautifully with triple cream brie, pecorino with truffles and charcuterie as well as meat and poultry dishes.
Hope you enjoy this wonderful vintage as much as we do, cheers!
