Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Margaret Thatcher is so unbelievably convincing that the actress completely disappears from view leaving in her wake the stunning portrayal of one of Britain’s most effective and successful Prime Ministers.
If you live long enough you come to realize that the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune are immune to one’s wealth, status, political position or any other aspect of the human condition. Thanks to her father, a politically active business man, Thatcher came to understand the fundamentals of finance and common sense business strategies that would ultimately deliver the UK from dire economic straits in the early 80s to the success and prosperity the nation achieved by the decade’s end.
Much like US President, John Adams – Thatcher held steadfast in her convictions, standing by unpopular decisions under immense pressure (often from members of her own party) that in time proved to be the correct course of action for Britain.
If you’re looking for a great movie to enjoy with the missus, this is it!
Pairs sublimely with a twenty-year old port.
